Dr. Wade Hampton is trained in the art of MEDIATION and CONFLICT RESOLUTION. His education as well as personal and professional experiences combine to make him very successful at facilitating open communication between individuals from various walks of life and backgrounds. He intuitively understands highly emotional disputes and is committed to the belief that people in conflict can resolve their disputes peacefully, while preserving the dignity of each individual.
Dr. Wade Hampton, founder and CEO of Hampton International Ministries, Inc. (dba HIM Ministries), HIM Consulting, LLC, and Hampton Mediation was born in the late 1950's and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. Dr. Hampton spent his younger years being very active in church, sports, and study. He was a good athlete and student who learned well the value of hard work and service to church and community.
Dr. Hampton graduated high school in the late 1970’s and went on to pursue undergraduate studies in business where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth. During his time at TCU, Hampton spent two years swimming on the (NCAA, Division 1) varsity swim team.
Upon graduation from TCU, Hampton entered the business world and worked for a large international corporation. Actually, Hampton had begun working for that company in the factory as a teenager.
At the age of thirty-four, he resigned his position from that same company as an executive and pursued graduate studies in theology and counseling through Zoe University in Jacksonville, Florida. After much hard work and some years later, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Ph.D. in Theology and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling.
Following graduation with his second doctorate degree, Hampton did an internship as a chaplain at a drug and alcohol treatment center. Then, in 1999, a police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty and Dr. Hampton helped start the Police Chaplain's Corp in St. Joseph, Missouri. Dr. Wade continues as a law enforcement chaplain to this day.
Dr. Wade’s love for law enforcement motivated him toward the profession and at the age of 40, he entered the police academy and graduated as the Top Cadet. Dr. Hampton went on to spend many years as a law enforcement officer obtaining the rank of police chief and going on to become the emergency manager (EMD) for the City of Hamilton as well as Caldwell County, Missouri.
Dr. Hampton also provided twelve years of extensive volunteer service at four different Missouri state prisons where he served as auxiliary chaplain, counselor, and pastor - achieving the highest of awards. To add to this, Hampton helped bring the world's second largest prison ministry (www.KairosPrisonMinistry.org) to the State of Missouri and pioneered that ministry into Crossroads Correctional Center (men's maximum security) and Chillicothe Correctional Center.
Additionally, Hampton spent time in the Philippines, South America, and lived three years in the mountains of Honduras, Central America, doing much of the same consulting and ministry activities as he has done here in the states.
When considering what experience is beneficial or essential to the mediation process we must remember that it is important to possess a strong background in business, the legal system, and counseling just to name a few. Reading through this bio, you will have noticed considerable strength in the areas of business and counseling however it is important to note that Dr. Hampton also possesses a strong background with regard to the legal system. To illustrate some brief examples consider the years of law enforcement as mentioned above. Additionally please note the following: during a consulting project for a law firm Dr. Wade did “the work of a paralegal" for an extended period of time. To add to this, he has served as a City Councilman and Deputy Mayor, and finally Dr. Wade has conducted multiple consulting projects involving complex issues including serious legal matters.
Author of the life changing book, The High Places, Dr. Wade’s vast life experiences, education, and work related efforts give him an in-depth and unique perspective with all his consulting/ministry efforts which include counseling, consulting, coaching, and MEDIATION!
